The Perfumer's Story by Azzi Sequoia Wood is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2015, created by Azzi Glasser. Sequoia Wood opens with Neroli and Palmarosa, settles into a heart of Sequoia, and dries down to a base of Chocolate, Cedar, Patchouli, and Clean Musk. The Perfumer's Story by Azzi's Sequoia Wood carries a Statement verdict, a woody-led wear.

A resinous red sequoia wood warmed by white musk, patchouli and cedar, with a neroli and palmarosa lift on top. The perfumer's own signature: a classy, near-genderless wood for autumn that suits most seasons, with a light hand needed.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring Autumn Winter

Autumn takes every vote, with spring and winter close behind, and wearers call it an all-season gentlemanly wood. Summer is the weakest because the resinous wood and musk are dense.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Casual
Also Works:
Office Date

Day votes lead but night is close, and wearers call it classy yet casual and suitable for any occasion. Moderate sillage keeps it office-friendly while the sensual, musky wood works for evenings.

About

Sequoia Wood is the perfumer's own signature fragrance. She made it for herself years before the range existed, and so many people asked about it that she added it to the collection; it has since been one of the best sellers. The brand calls it an expression of individuality, distinctive, unconventional and invariably noticed, and sells it as an eau de parfum in 30 and 150 ml. It opens with the freshness of neroli and palmarosa before the red sequoia wood takes the heart, grounded by cedar, patchouli and white musk. Wearers describe planks of conifer resin and wood, with spice, sawdust and resinous sap, and the musk resonates warmly over the wood from the first second. A few smell hardly any neroli, and one reviewer finds the musk overpowering enough to push the cedar into the background. One wearer found it smelled like a car air freshener when overdone, so a light hand is advised. Wear is good: most voters report moderate to long lasting, wearers mention six hours or more, and the sillage sits at moderate, about a foot at first and then close to the skin. Autumn takes every season vote, with spring and winter close behind, and day and night votes are both strong. It is listed as unisex and wearers call it genderless and androgynous. Nearly every voter likes it, and the main complaint is the price for a signature scent. It suits anyone who wants a clean, natural-smelling wood with a musky, sensual warmth.
