A British handmade perfume house, known for gourmand vanillas and theatrical gothic woods

About Juliet Rose

Juliet Rose is a British perfume house run by the perfumer Juliet Rose from the south of England. Her pages describe handmade perfumes in a wide range of styles, sold online after a period in Covent Garden. The brand carries the perfumer's name.

She trained to a Masters degree in fine art in London, and that work grew into perfumery in 2009. She sold her perfumes in Covent Garden until 2020, when she moved entirely online. Her stated aim is to activate the imagination and to alter the atmosphere of the space around the wearer.

The range is large and sorted into groups: gourmand, aquatic and fresh, vanillas, gothic, fruity and floral, with discovery sets for trying the range. The gourmands are the best known, from Crème Brûlée, a creamy custard with burnt sugar, caramel and maple, to Snuggle Bug, a milky coconut and tonka vanilla. The vanillas include a boozy Tahitian vanilla with rum, tobacco and leather. The gothic scents are the most unusual: Lost in a Forest is a damp, resinous woodland with cedar, rosewood and oud, Gothic Woods is a deep, aged-frankincense wood, and Boleyn is a dark rose built on a Tudor pot pourri recipe.

Juliet Rose sits in independent, handmade perfumery with a broad catalogue and a popular gourmand line. It suits wearers who like sweet, comforting vanillas and theatrical, story-led woods, and buyers who like to sample before choosing a full bottle.
