Agar Intense is Alexandria UK's take on Tom Ford's Oud Wood Intense, the deeper, more concentrated sibling to the brand's original Oud Wood. It opens with a sharp, green blast of cypress needle and juniper berry, cut through with fresh ginger, aiming for the same raw, aromatic intensity the original leads with. The heart pairs oud with angelica herb for an earthy, slightly bitter core, before settling into a base of castoreum, dry cedar, and soft musk that reaches for the animalic depth Oud Wood Intense is known for. The ambition is there, but the execution feels thinner across the board: the castoreum reads more like a suggestion than the original's genuinely raw, skin-like warmth, and the whole composition loses steam noticeably sooner. Still, it's an accessible way to explore the darker, more aggressive end of the oud-wood spectrum without committing to the niche price, best suited to cooler months and evenings where a bolder scent is wanted.
