It makes a bold entrance with bright, peppery spice and warm saffron, echoing the original's fearless opening. This sharp introduction gives way to a dark, smouldering heart where resinous oud and smooth leather take command, layered with a touch of rose. The base settles into creamy tonka bean and warm amber with a whisper of cedar smoke, aiming for the authoritative, compelling trail the original is celebrated for. The saffron-oud-leather arc is a fair sketch of Tobacco Oud's structure in the opening. The gap shows up in richness: the Tom Ford original is prized for a genuinely dense, resinous oud-tobacco base with excellent projection and longevity, while this version thins out and quiets down noticeably sooner, with less of the smoky tobacco complexity carrying into the dry-down.
