Amouage Opus XV King Blue is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2023, created by Hamid Merati-Kashani and Alexis Grugeon. Opus XV King Blue opens with Mandarin, Pink Pepper, and Blackcurrant, and settles into a heart of Amber and Frankincense. Amouage's Opus XV King Blue carries an Acquired verdict, a woody-led wear.

This one's a proper love-it-or-hate-it affair. Expect a challenging, animalic oud opening that demands patience, but stick with it and you'll be rewarded with a rich, fruity-amber dry down that many consider a masterpiece. Definitely not for the faint-hearted, but seriously addictive for the initiated.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Fall Winter
Also Works:
Spring

Versatile across every season - no clear seasonal preference from wearers.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Date Formal

With beast-mode performance and a highly polarising opening, this fragrance is far too loud and challenging for an office environment. It shines on a date or for formal events where its unique character can truly make a statement, but only once the initial challenging notes have dissipated.

About

Opus XV opens with a bold, almost confrontational blast of animalic oud, sweetened by a dark, jammy blackcurrant and brightened by a hint of mandarin and a kick of pink pepper. As it evolves, the powerful oud mellows, giving way to a warming amber and sacred frankincense, softened by creamy sandalwood and a touch of supple leather. The dry down is a complex, smooth blend of real oud, rich woods, and resinous sweetness.
