Love at First Scent tracks Mancera Instant Crush's note list impressively closely for a dupe: saffron and ginger open both fragrances with the same warm, slightly metallic spice, and the heart brings in the same Moroccan rose and jasmine pairing over an amberwood-style accord. Where the two separate is in the base. Instant Crush is known in the fragrance community as a genuine powerhouse, its sandalwood, oakmoss, white musk and vanilla combination projecting for hours and lingering on clothes for days. Love at First Scent keeps the sandalwood, vanilla and musk but leaves out the oakmoss, and the result, while still warm and pleasant, simply doesn't have the same weight or staying power. If it's the saffron-rose-jasmine heart you're after, this gets close; if it's the room-filling projection, expect noticeably less.
