Thierry Mugler's Angel is widely credited as the first true gourmand fragrance, an intoxicating, flower-free composition of caramelised cotton candy, praline and honey resting on an earthy, addictive patchouli-and-vanilla base that remains one of the most extraordinary and polarising launches in modern perfumery. Eden's No.002 leans hard into that same gourmand identity, opening with melon, coconut and a clear cotton candy note before a fruity heart of blackberry, plum and red berries, landing on tonka, patchouli, vanilla, chocolate and caramel. It reads unapologetically indulgent, sweet, sultry and confident, in keeping with the brief. Where it departs from the Mugler original is in restraint, Angel's patchouli is often described as the fragrance's defining, almost confrontational backbone, and here that patchouli sits within a broader, sweeter gourmand blend rather than dominating the composition the way reviewers describe in the designer version.
