Lush Dear John is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2004, created by Mark Constantine. Lush's Dear John carries a Statement verdict, a woody-led wear.

This is a love-it-or-hate-it scent, often described as an 'old soul' fragrance. If you're after a rough-around-the-edges, spiced-wood aroma with a hint of coffee and lime, and don't mind reapplying, Dear John is worth a sniff.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Fall
Also Works:
Winter

A cold-weather scent - best worn in autumn and winter.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Casual
Also Works:
Date

Its moderate longevity and sillage make it suitable for casual wear, but it might be too intimate for formal events. While some wear it to work, its distinct and somewhat 'old-fashioned' character might not suit all office environments. It shines on dates or cozy evenings out.

About

Dear John opens with a surprisingly bright and zingy lime, quickly joined by the pungent spice of coriander. This initial freshness soon mellows, giving way to a warm heart of rich clove and aromatic pine, evoking images of crackling fires and old books. The base deepens into a comforting blend of earthy vetiver, dry Virginia cedarwood, and a subtle, almost leathery coffee note, leaving a lingering, nostalgic trail.
