MATCH Perfumes Black Orchid - No.10 is an Eau de Parfum. Black Orchid - No.10 opens with Bergamot, Lemon, Mandarin, and Blackcurrant, settles into a heart of Spicy, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, and Orchid, and dries down to a base of Chocolate, Musk, Sandalwood, and Patchouli. MATCH Perfumes's Black Orchid - No.10 carries an Acquired verdict, a sweet-led wear.

No.10 pulls from Tom Ford's Black Orchid - black currant and orchid over a chocolate-patchouli base - and gets the dark, sweet-floral drama across, but the dupe's projection and richness thin out quickly where the original keeps filling a room for hours.

About

Black Orchid is Tom Ford's signature dark floral, built on an unusual pairing of black currant and truffle up top with a rich, almost gourmand chocolate-and-patchouli base beneath orchid and spice. It is famous for enormous projection and a mysterious, boudoir-like sweetness that reads as luxurious rather than cloying. Match Perfumes' No.10 uses a closely matching note list - black currant, bergamot, mandarin and lemon up top, orchid, spices, ylang-ylang and jasmine at heart, chocolate, patchouli, vanilla, incense, sandalwood and white musk underneath - and the opening does deliver a similarly dark, fruity-floral impression. The difference is in staying power: Tom Ford's version keeps building through the heart and fills a room for the better part of a day, while No.10's projection tightens up much sooner and the rich chocolate-patchouli base reads thinner, losing the original's velvety density earlier in the wear. It is a credible dark-floral option for anyone chasing the mood on a budget, just without the original's room-filling presence.
