Montale Dark Vanilla is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2020. Dark Vanilla opens with Spicy Notes, settles into a heart of Leather, Sandalwood, Oud, and Patchouli, and dries down to a base of Amber and Vanilla. About

Dark Vanilla is not a sweet shop. It begins with a hit of warm spice, and straight after, leather and oud move in with a smoky, slightly rubbery edge. Sandalwood and patchouli smooth the heart and give it an earthy, woody base to stand on. The leather and oud are still strong, but now there is cream among the darkness. The vanilla arrives at the drydown, and it is deep rather than frosting-sweet. Amber wraps it, and the result is velvety, dark and slightly cocoa-dark in its richness. It is a big scent, with high strength and staying power, and one spray is plenty. Winter and autumn evenings are its natural home, for dates and dressed-up nights. It has no place in an office or a hot day. It can split opinion because the leather and oud are strong, so smell it on skin first. If you want vanilla with an edge, it is a distinctive pick.
