About

Cannes is inspired by Yves Saint Laurent Libre, a floral built on a lavender backbone. Lavender and mandarin open it with a green, herbal brightness, and blackcurrant adds a fruity, tart touch. Jasmine and orange blossom make the heart, rich and creamy, and the lavender stays close, so the flowers feel clean and tailored rather than sweet. It is a trick that gives the scent its poise. Vanilla anchors the base, warm and soft, with ambergris adding a faint salty glow, musk keeping the skin clean, and cedar drawing a dry line through it. The finish is smooth and a little sweet. It lasts a decent few hours and the trail is moderate. It is a scent for all seasons but works best in autumn and spring, and it handles the office, dates and dinners with equal ease. It sits next to Libre on the shelf as the nearest reach for the same lavender-and-vanilla mood.
