Tom Ford's Oud Wood Intense pushes the original Oud Wood into darker, leathery territory, and this One Pure Drop oil captures the broad strokes: a spicy ginger-and-cardamom opening giving way to a woody, smoky oud heart. The leather and sandalwood base is where the dupe earns its keep on skin, sitting close and warm for several hours. What's missing is the original's animalic castoreum bite and the dry, resinous cypress edge that gives the Private Blend its complexity - here the base leans sweeter and more amber-forward, a common simplification in budget oud accords. As an oil rather than a spray, it applies discreetly and clings to skin rather than filling a room, which suits its price point.
