Carner Barcelona is a Spanish niche perfume house founded in 2010 in Barcelona by Sara Carner, later joined by her brother Joaquim. Both are descendants of a longstanding family of leather artisans, a background that informs the brand’s emphasis on craftsmanship and materials. In interviews, Carner has said that the project grew from a desire to connect scent with her own memories, emotions, and her native Barcelona, working with local suppliers and top perfumers through Givaudan.

The brand positions itself around Barcelona’s Mediterranean identity: its sea breeze, architecture, and relaxed urban energy. All key stages of creation, from concept and design to manufacturing, are carried out in Barcelona with local partners, and the wooden caps on the bottles are highlighted as a visual signature referencing Mediterranean wood and traditional craftsmanship. Early releases such as Tardes (2010) and D600 (named after the address of the first studio on Avinguda Diagonal 600) helped define the house’s identity, while later launches like El Born and Costarela expanded the line with more specific tributes to Barcelona neighborhoods and its coastline.

Carner Barcelona organizes its catalog into collections such as the Black, Fresh, Dream, History, and Mediterranean ranges, covering a spectrum from airy citruses to darker woods and resins. The house often builds narratives around local culture and history, for example BO-BO, inspired by an 18th century folkloric dance and described by Carner as a personal favorite that represents Mediterranean lifestyle. Across the range, the brand emphasizes high quality raw materials, artisan production in Barcelona, and collaborations with well known perfumers including Shyamala Maisondieu, Rodrigo Flores-Roux, Sonia Constant, and others.
