Spanish Perfume Brands

Spanish perfume is the star of the country's beauty market: it leads the market's growth and is its second-largest category, says Stanpa, the national perfumery and cosmetics association. Spain is also the world's second perfume exporter after France, by Stanpa's count. Spanish houses on this page include Carner Barcelona, Loewe, Ramon Monegal and Antonio Puig.

The perfume market in Spain

Spaniards buy much of their perfume in perfumeries and specialist shops. This selective channel leads the industry's growth, Stanpa says, and Spain has been one of Europe's three growth markets for prestige beauty, with Britain and Italy, on Circana's figures.

Shoppers are trading up. Stanpa describes a better-informed buyer who puts luxury and the brand experience first, which pushes perfume towards more expensive products.

Perfume and cosmetics are a national export success. Spain now sells more of them abroad than it does wine and olive oil combined, Stanpa notes, and the industry pairs big companies with many small and medium-sized firms.
