Armand Basi is a Spanish fashion and lifestyle brand that grew out of a family knitwear business in Barcelona. According to the brand's own history, Mercedes Basi opened a knitwear store in the city in the 1940s, working with Scottish yarns, and her sons Armand and Josep later expanded the operation into industrial production of knitwear. In 1986, Armand Basi launched his eponymous fashion brand, which extended beyond clothing into accessories, jewelry, watches, and eventually fragrances.
The label's perfumes are produced under the Armand Basi name, with early launches such as Armand Basi Homme (2000) and Armand Basi In Red (2002) helping to define its presence in the fragrance market. Armand Basi Homme, created by perfumer Jean-Pierre Bethouart and listed as originating from Spain, positioned the brand in the masculine woody-spicy segment, while In Red built recognition on the women's side.
