TOUS
Spanish jewelry label turned lifestyle brand with approachable, everyday perfumes launched in 2002.
TOUS began in 1920 when Salvador Tous Blavi and his wife Teresa Ponsa Mas opened a small watch repair workshop in Manresa, near Barcelona. Over time the business moved from watchmaking into jewelry, laying the foundations for what would become a global brand rooted in Catalan design culture. In the 1960s, their son Salvador Tous Ponsa took over the workshop and, together with his wife Rosa Oriol, reshaped the company with a more playful, accessible approach to jewelry.
A pivotal moment came in 1985, when Rosa Oriol created the TOUS bear pendant, which rapidly became the brand’s visual signature and a recognizable pop‑culture symbol in Spain. From the 1980s onward, TOUS expanded beyond jewelry into accessories such as handbags, watches and leather goods, and later into perfumes. Official brand history notes that TOUS deliberately diversified into fashion accessories and fragrances as international expansion gathered pace, with stores opening in markets including Mexico, the United States, Japan and France in the early 2000s.
The first TOUS perfume appeared in 2002, extending the brand’s lighthearted, youthful image into fragrance. Since then, TOUS has released multiple lines for both women and men, often packaged with the bear emblem and positioned for everyday wear. While the company remains best known for jewelry, fragrances are now a regular part of its offer and are distributed in many of the more than 100 countries where TOUS operates.
A designer, mid house known for fresh florals compositions.
TOUS moved from a local watch and jewelry workshop to a broader accessories label in the 1980s, then into full lifestyle brand territory as it added handbags, leather goods and other categories. The launch of its first fragrance in 2002 marked a shift into beauty, aligning scent with the brand’s established bear imagery and playful positioning. Since then the perfume line has expanded steadily but conservatively, focusing on flanker styles and approachable themes rather than radical artistic pivots.
TOUS perfumes are reliable, easygoing options that suit casual wearers far more than hardcore fragrance collectors. They make sense if you like the brand’s jewelry and want matching, uncomplicated scents rather than statement fragrances.
