FAME 15 opens with juicy plum against bergamot and cypress, a fruity-green burst that's a fair echo of the original's opening flourish, if a touch louder and less refined. The heart brings jasmine, labdanum and incense, but the layering feels flatter here, more of a single amber-floral wash than the original's shifting, artistic complexity. Vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood, oud, musk and patchouli fill out a warm, sweet base that leans gourmand rather than resinous - pleasant and long-wearing, but simplified compared to the niche original's more austere, smoky finish. Projection is strong for the first few hours before settling into a soft skin scent. A reasonable stand-in for the plum-amber-oud combination at a fraction of the price, though fans of the original's incense-forward mystique will notice the shortcuts.
