Haute Luxor

Haute Luxor is Alexandria UK's tribute to Roja Haute Luxe, Roja Dove's celebrated lavish chypre, once described as a Chypre wrapped in cashmere. The opening leans on the same shimmering pairing of creamy bergamot and floral ylang-ylang that opens the original. The heart is the closest match to the reference: a regal bouquet of Grasse rose and rich jasmine, framed here by iris rather than the original's antique oakmoss-forward florals, with spiced whispers of cinnamon and ginger threading through. The base assembles the same core chypre pillars as Haute Luxe - oakmoss, amber, leather, oud, vanilla and sandalwood, rounded out with styrax and patchouli - though the layering here is noticeably thinner and less resinous than the original's dense, hours-long unfolding bouquet. Where Haute Luxe deepens and gains complexity over its first four hours on skin, this version reaches its full character faster and settles into a simpler, shorter-lived trail. It is a reasonable way to sample the gilded chypre silhouette without the connoisseur price tag, even if the depth and longevity fall well short.
