Aromara Mystic Oud is an Extrait de Parfum. Mystic Oud opens with Green, Bergamot, Grapefruit, and Cypress, settles into a heart of Rose, Jasmine, Violet, and Cinnamon, and dries down to a base of Leather, Amber, Oud, and Tonka Bean. Aromara's Mystic Oud carries an Acquired verdict, a oud-led wear.

Mystic Oud is Aromara's take on Penhaligon's Halfeti, an opulent spicy oriental oud. The rose-oud-incense signature carries the resemblance well, though at 35% Extrait it comes across bolder and less refined than the original's more layered, couture-level construction.

About

Mystic Oud opens with bergamot, grapefruit, green notes and cardamom, a spicy-fresh start that gives way to rose, jasmine, violet, nutmeg and cinnamon through a dense, spice-heavy heart. Leather, oud, amber, tonka bean and incense build a rich, smoky base. Penhaligon's original weaves its rose and oud with a particularly refined, almost couture level of blending; this version renders the same notes with less subtlety, letting the spice and incense sit more forward and the transitions feel more abrupt, which is typical of how dupe houses simplify complex oriental compositions. The rose-oud-incense-leather core still reads as a convincing, rich oriental. It is a formal, cold-weather scent with strong persistence and noticeable projection, best suited to evenings and dressier occasions where its opulence has room to breathe.
