Oud and Bulgarian rose form the heart, capturing the general shape of Montale's own oud-rose pairing, though the blend here is simpler and less resinous, missing some of the original's smoky, medicinal edge. The base is where the real character of Arabians Tonka lives, and this version gets close: tonka bean and sugar cane combine into a sweet, almost caramelised finish, with amber and white musk rounding it out, though it fades faster and reads thinner than Montale's own dense, long-lasting drydown. The oakmoss that keeps the original grounded and slightly dry is barely present here, leaving the composition leaning sweeter and simpler overall. It still delivers the warm, exotic oud-tonka mood that made Arabians Tonka a niche favourite, just with noticeably less richness and staying power.
