Francis Explorer

Perfume Parlour Francis Explorer is an Eau de Parfum launched in 1981. Francis Explorer opens with Galbanum, Aldehydes, Pineapple, and Peach, settles into a heart of Leather, Carnation, Narcissus, and Orris, and dries down to a base of Amber, Vanilla, Sandalwood, and Tonka Bean. Perfume Parlour's Francis Explorer carries a Statement verdict, a amber-led wear.

Francis Explorer Women recreates Cartier's Must de Cartier, the elegant 1981 green-amber classic. It captures the bitter galbanum opening and that superb vanilla-amber-sandalwood base, but the dupe softens the original's opulent richness and animalic edge, wearing closer and a touch flatter while keeping the vintage sophistication.

About

Francis Explorer Women opens with the original's signature bitter-green galbanum lifted by aldehydes and a fruity-citrus shimmer of pineapple, peach, bergamot and mandarin. The heart is richly floral with leather, carnation, narcissus, orris and jasmine, leading into the real star: a deep, opulent base of amber, vanilla, sandalwood and tonka with a faint animalic civet whisper. Against Cartier's Must de Cartier, this dupe gets the green-to-amber arc and the luxurious vanilla-amber drydown right, but the original's full richness, refinement and skanky depth are dialled back here, leaving a smoother, more linear and skin-close wear with somewhat shorter longevity. It remains an elegant, grown-up fragrance for cool-weather evenings and formal occasions, offering much of the vintage original's character at a budget price.
