Zarian Oud

Zarian Oud opens on a spiced, resinous flourish - frankincense and ginger lift over a soft bergamot, setting an incense-forward warmth from the first spray. At its heart a generous May rose blooms, lending a velvety floral richness that keeps the composition from turning austere. The drydown is where the inspiration shows clearest: a soft, enveloping oud laced with myrrh, sweet tonka bean and creamy sandalwood, with patchouli and a touch of liquorice adding a boozy, ambered depth. Creed's original is famous for its smooth, almost magnanimous oud and near-eternal longevity; this Perfume Parlour interpretation captures the same warm, creamy direction but renders the oud a shade thinner and more synthetic, with the frankincense reading a touch louder up top to compensate. Projection is moderate at first and pulls in closer to the skin after a few hours rather than radiating all day. It remains a cosy, sophisticated rose-oud that delivers the spirit of the original for cold-weather evenings at a tiny fraction of the cost.
