SMEL.' take on Neroli Portofino chases Tom Ford's summer icon, an Italian-Riviera blend of citrus and orange blossom that made its name as an effortless warm-weather signature. This version opens with the same zesty bergamot, mandarin and lemon rush before neroli and orange blossom bring a sunny, honeyed floral heart, closing on a soft amber-musk base with a touch of angelica. The dupe captures the sparkling top accord convincingly, since citrus is cheap and easy to replicate loud, but the original's neroli holds a distinctive bitter-green depth alongside a warm, almost creamy skin musk that this version renders flatter and simpler. Longevity is noticeably shorter, settling into a faint citrus-musk trace within a few hours rather than lingering as a soft floral glow. Still, for a fraction of the designer price, it delivers a recognisably fresh, Mediterranean-leaning citrus floral that works well for daytime office wear, casual outings and warm-weather dates.
