The Perfumer's Story by Azzi S&X is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2016, created by Azzi Glasser. The Perfumer's Story by Azzi's S&X carries an Acquired verdict, a musk-led wear.

A provocative unisex scent of magnolia and jasmine over dark leather and patchouli, warmed by musk, tea, resins and a hint of animalic castoreum. Bold, long-wearing and sensual, a night-out and cooler-weather pick, though the opening can be sharp.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Autumn Winter
Also Works:
Spring

Autumn leads and winter follows, which suits dark leather, patchouli, resins and musk. Spring is mixed across the two vote sets and summer is the weakest.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Date
Also Works:
Office Casual

Night-out and evening votes lead, and the brand and wearers call it seductive and very sexy, so it is a date and night scent first. It also draws leisure and business votes, though the opening can be harsh and up front.

About

S&X began as a collaboration between a photographer and the brand's perfumer, and it was meant to turn the seduction, irreverence and charged sensuality of his photography into scent. The brand calls it fearless, punk rock and wild, and it is sold as an eau de parfum in 30 and 150 ml. Fresh magnolia and jasmine meet the tactile sensuality of leather, lifted by bergamot, with pepper, olibanum, Earl Grey tea, elemi, guaiac wood and patchouli through the middle. Castoreum, white musk, amber and blond woods give a warm, skin-like base. Reviewers find very dark leather and a dirty patchouli from the start, a first half hour that can feel harsh and up front, and then a bright musk and tea that take over from the fourth hour. It lasts: long-lasting votes lead, one wearer reports twelve hours or more, and sillage votes sit at moderate. Autumn and winter lead the season votes, night-out and evening votes are strongest, and it also collects leisure and business votes. It is a unisex scent, and wearers describe resinous, spicy, slightly animalic wood and leather of the kind that men's fragrances once had, with a little synthetic edge that one finds intriguing. It suits anyone who wants a confident, sensual scent with some bite rather than a soft skin scent.
