Imperial 505 opens with the most elaborate top accord in the Imperial family: green notes and grapefruit for freshness, spices for warmth, and bergamot, lavender and petitgrain for an aromatic, fougere-adjacent brightness. It's a busy but coherent opening. The heart continues the aromatic theme with ginger and sage alongside violet and gardenia - an unusual pairing of herbal-spicy and powdery-floral notes that gives 505 a more unconventional character than a straightforward floral or woody heart would. The base is dense: musk, sandalwood, incense, guaiac wood, vetiver and labdanum stack into a resinous, smoky, ambery-woody finish with real longevity. This is the most complex base across the numbered Imperial variants. Overall this reads as an aromatic-woody-amber fragrance with genuine complexity for its price point - the green-citrus-aromatic opening and incense-heavy base make 505 the most distinctive and arguably the most 'serious' entry in the Imperial series.
