Regal Touch La Nuit opens aggressively spiced: pepper and pink pepper bring a double dose of peppery heat, while saffron adds its distinctive leathery-medicinal warmth - an opening that immediately signals 'night' rather than daytime wear. The heart is unusually technical for this house: labdanum brings ambery-resinous depth, juniper oil a sharp, gin-like freshness, gurjun balsam a woody-balsamic note rarely seen outside niche perfumery, and rhubarb an unexpected tart-green facet that cuts through the resin. The base is the densest surveyed in this range: leather, cedar, patchouli, guaiac wood, moss and musk combine for a dark, smoky, earthy finish with serious longevity. Overall this reads as the boldest and most technically ambitious fragrance in the Regal Touch quartet - the saffron-labdanum-leather spine gives La Nuit real darkness and depth, living up to its 'La Nuit' (the night) name far more convincingly than a simple black bottle would.
